We will narrow the definition of the Central Algarve to that region lying between Vilamoura and the Carvoeiro area.

On the coast are some of the finest beaches in the Algarve – Falesia, Coelha, Castelho and Gale. In  summer, these can become a little crowded, but they do go on for miles, so there is always a quiet spot in the sun (or shade, near the cliff) to be found.

The largest town on this coast is Albufeira, which is popular with package holidaymakers, many of whom favour traditional British seaside pursuits and lively entertainment. So, if this is the choice of some in your party, this is an ideal town to visit – and then return to the peace of your luxury villa!

Inland is the town of Guia. This town is renowned for its Chicken restaurants serving the local piri-piri chicken dishes. If you like spicy food, a visit here is a must. The town also hosts, on the outskirts, Algarve Shopping, a modern complex with fashion and other stores for the serious shopper!
